Open Positions

The Cole County R-1 School district is hiring friendly, energetic faces for the following positions. Russellville is 15 minutes from Jefferson City and 30 minutes from Lake of the Ozarks. Positions are open until filled.

District Vacancies

  • School Nighttime Janitor-The Nighttime Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and orderly environment throughout the school building. This position performs routine cleaning and custodial duties during evening hours to ensure classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, gyms, and other areas are prepared for students and staff each school day.

Daily tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and other assigned areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and carpets.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, counters, and floors.
  • Restock restroom supplies, including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
  • Wipe down desks, tables, counters, furniture, and other surfaces as needed.
  • Clean windows, glass doors, and entryways as assigned.
  • Set up and take down tables, chairs, and other equipment for school activities and events.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of entrances, hallways, and common areas.
  • Report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, safety hazards, and needed repairs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Follow proper procedures for the use, storage, and handling of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, buffers, and other cleaning equipment.
  • Assist with cleaning and preparing the building for special events, meetings, athletic activities, and other school functions.
  • Assist with snow, ice, or other weather-related cleanup as needed.
  • Secure assigned areas of the building, including checking doors and turning off lights or equipment as directed.
  • Follow all school district policies, safety procedures, and cleaning and sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain a professional and cooperative working relationship with school staff and other custodial personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor, Building Administrator, or District Administration

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull supplies and equipment.
  • Perform repetitive cleaning and custodial tasks.
  • Work in various areas of the school building and occasionally outdoors.
  • Safely lift and move items as required for the position.

 

  • Substitute Cook - The Cole County R-I School District is accepting applications for substitute cooks.  Daily hours are from 6:30am-1:30pm and will be on a part-time/as-needed basis.  Hourly compensation begins at $15 per hour.

Daily tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Breakfast and lunch meal prep
  • Serving students and staff according to established recipes and portion control standards
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining environment according to food safety and sanitation guidelines

This can be a physically demanding role, requiring prolonged walking and standing, and the ability to lift and carry 20 pounds or more.

Jr/Sr High School Vacancies

The Cole R-1 School District has these positions open for the 2026-2027 school year.   • RootEd Advisor - This person will ensure that every student has a strong plan following their high school graduation. The staff member will work alongside school counselors and administration in a multitude of areas including some administrative assistant responsibilities.  You may send the application along with a resume and 3 letters of recommendation to Mrs. Danielle Greubel, Principal at 13600 Rt.   • Substitute Teacher: To be qualified, you must have 36 college credit hours or a high school diploma and 20 hours of DESE training. Visit DESE's website to learn more about the Checklist for Substitute Teachers. Substitutes for our district are compensated $100 per school day.
